Award Season and Evening Wear Trends we adore!

Posted on

At the Matchimony office we love an award ceremony, all in the name of “research” we sit and ooh and ahh over the beautiful gowns and dapper menswear.   The awards are a brilliant insight into the  future trends in occasionwear and this year’s National Television Awards and Golden Globes were no exception. White is no longer just reserved for the bride and was a huge trend at both the Golden Globes and National Television Awards.   From Vicky Pattinson to Lady C outrageous Wedding dress, white brightened up a freezing night at the NTAs.   Whilst white might not be making...

Introducing the Matchimony Multiway ……

Posted on

Photoshoot mania descended on the Matchimony office last month as we did two photoshoots of our new collection in one week!  One photoshoot in a week is stressful and so having two is just crazy but the results were well worth the chaos.      A photoshoot requires a whole team of people including a brilliant photographer, make up artist, hairdresser, models and assistants to prepare the items before photographing.    We are so lucky at Matchimony that from the beginning we have had an army of helpers that have made the shoots possible.    The shoots have now become fun as...

New Colour Sourcing!

Posted on

The past few weeks have been really exciting with lots of travel and to source some new colours for our range having been inspired by new trends and the seasons. This month we have seen a surge in requests for people seeing ranges of blues, from the very palest Light Blue to our Navy Blue. However we have also sourced an incredible new colour - Turquoise.  We had hours of fun selecting different shades of this great colour before settling on our final one. We are now making our new dresses in it and will release pictures of this stunning...

Here comes the bride all dressed in _______?

Traditionally a bride had the choice of the entire rainbow of colours when choosing her Wedding colour theme to match her white/ivory dress, yet with the latest trend of coloured and printed wedding gowns the choice is slightly more difficult!    We absolutely adored the floral wedding dress trend for 2016 that was seen on many of the bridal catwalks, these beautiful prints looked amazing on the bridal gowns. It’s official, Autumn is here! Strictly is back on the television, my Mum has done her Christmas shopping and I got wet feet from wearing flip flops last week....  We love Autumn in the Matchimony office as it means the next round of Wedding Fairs are here (we will be at the Hop Farm in Kent next weekend if you fancy popping over to view our lovely collection http://www.mainweddingsandevents.co.uk/Kent-Wedding-Shows/The-Hop-Farm-Wedding-Show/.) Plus we get to drool over colours such as Forest Green and Merlot, both of which we are proud to be offering for Autumn/Winter 2016.       These are just two colours that...

London Fashion Week: Colour trends to use at your own wedding

Posted on

Today sees the close of London Fashion Week, and London it has been special! A huge array of trends were shown including bold floral prints (gorgeous on a ballgown) and spots everywhere! We love both of these in equal measure and would love to see how they could be brought to life with stunning bridesmaid fabrics. However the trends that really piqued our interest, as always, were the colour trends! The catwalk was awash with clean ivory, stark bright white and glorious champagne, and we love all three. We have seen how our brides and increasing considering a mix and...

Attending a wedding when you are pregnant is stressful.   Everything in your wardrobe resembles a sack, the menu becomes a minefield and heaving your 8 month bump around the dancefloor is a chore.    This is before you factor in being the only sober person at the wedding apart from the page boy and flowergirl!   If you are a bridesmaid this stress is multiplied by 100 as you need to predict what size your bump will be in a few months time when ordering your dress, the bride wants you to match the other bridesmaid plus you don’t want to be an...

Picking a wedding theme

Posted on

Choosing a wedding theme can be incredibly easy, or actually quite frustrating. For some it’s simple, you choose a theme that relates to you and your partner such as a shared love of sport, or a specific country and there you have it. Someone we know chose a theme based around sailing as her and her husband had met whilst on a sailing camping holiday when they were only 16 which is lovely! She was able to choose features that represented that entire theme with a cake in the shape of their sailing boat and even flowergirl dresses that looked...
